Educational Video Goal Setting

Because goal setting is such an important facet in a child’s education, many teachers use educational video goal setting. These educational video tapes help students to understand the concept of goal setting. They also learn how setting goals can make the difference between success and failure.

In the younger grades, the educational video goal setting tapes help children to understand that making certain character goals will help keep them out of trouble and lead them on to the road of success. As adults know, we are a world of rules and laws. People who break the rules of society often end up in jail or lead lives of failure.

Generally, these goal setting tapes show different types of behavior, some good and some bad. After the video students can discuss the behaviors depicted in the video. Then as a group, they can come up with goals that will alleviate the bad behavior. Then they can discuss the goals that the good students have already made for themselves. The teacher and students can discuss some goals that lead to good behavior.

After the video discussion, each student should write down one goal that will help him/her improve their behavior. These character building behaviors are necessary if the kids are to mature. Each day the students should check their progress on keeping their goals. After the new behavior is accomplished, a new goal can be implemented.

In the high school years, students need to learn how to cope with their peers and even their employers. Particularly students who are taking the Career Tech route need to learn how to get along with bosses. Unless they become millionaires all of the students will have to cope with a boss one day. Even if they work for themselves, they will have to cope with customers. Certainly these students need help with work related goals.

This video helps students to understand their role in keeping their job. After watching the video, students and teachers can have a great discussion about goal setting for the job setting. Even the nicest students may have problems relating to their employers or other workers. Setting goals for the workplace is so important,

Another great video is Ten Ways to Lose Your Job. This video shows how bad behavior ensures job loss. Even though this video presents the negative, students can discuss how changing behavior and having positive goals will help them on the job.

There are numerous educational video goal setting tapes and DVDs. Because goal setting is so important, using non print material for goal setting helps students to learn the importance of setting goals for the rest of their lives.
